Beautiful Artwork for Indoors and Outdoors!

Beautiful Artwork for Indoors and Outdoors!

I had the opportunity to visit the Paradise City Arts Show in Northampton, MA, and I came across some fabulous artists that come from all over America to display their work! One thing in particular that caught my eye was their amazing sculptures.   I adore these animal sculptures done by Christopher Williams. Located in Essex, MA, Chris has been doing art for 20 years. Many of his works are large pieces, but he still makes time to do a cute little bug here and there, such as this bumblebee! I really love the abstract textures he incorporates, as well as that pop of color with the hand blown glass. Who would not want to look out their window everyday to this majestic giraffe?   WB Sculpture Studio located in Providence, RI,  is another great studio I have found that specializes in sculptures, mobiles, railings and furniture for indoor and outdoor. Mainly abstract pieces, Whitmore Boogaerts, creates movement in an environment that can leave an imprint on anyone. His free flowing figures can help to create a soothing and comforting space for an entryway or even a patio!   Another amazing sculptor is Roger DiTarando, located in Vernon, CT.  Instead of trying to capture the essence of an animal, he instead takes advantage of it’s texture and transforms it into a one of a kind being. I love how he fluffs up the sheep’s’ wool , and heightens the shell on the turtle to almost exaggerate their wonderful features. I would love to use these turtles on a console, or even use these sheep as part of my landscaping; They are truly amazing! I hope you feel inspired to incorporate beautiful sculptures like these in your daily life. I feel as though they can add that one last thing you may be looking for to make your home complete.  If you would like more inspiration, please feel free to view my work here. Incorporating Leather Into Interior Design for the Home – A Guest Blog

Leather is a wonderful material that lends itself well to many interior design roles. The warm and tactile nature of this fabulous stuff makes it very popular in the seating and relaxing areas of our homes, as we just love to get up close to it and feel its smooth loveliness. Kick back and relax Upholstery leather can look gorgeous on old battered wingback armchairs, formal Chesterfields and traditional dining room seats. Including leather sofas and armchairs in an interior design scheme subtly changes the atmosphere of a room, introducing both timeless elegance and old-school quality. Traditionally, libraries, studies and ‘man caves’ were furnished with leather pieces, giving a Hemingway-esque, masculine ambiance to a place – but leather shouldn’t just be the preserve of our men folk, it’s far too beautiful for that! Fortunately, leather sofas and seating come in many different styles and look great in any room of the house. From contemporary modular shapes to traditional models, finding a design to fit any interior is easy. Some home owners opt for the aged and antiqued look, reminiscent of a clubhouse or den, others prefer the sleek, solid color of finished leather; both are equally gorgeous. A unique flooring choice Believe it or not leather flooring is very popular. The warmth and softness of this luxury material underfoot is second to none. Popular as a staircase covering in some of the grandest dwellings, it has a growing number of fans. Be prepared to pay out a lot for such high-end flooring tiles, but they are known to be durable and age beautifully, so won’t need replacing in a hurry. Leather furniture and accessories Leather can be used for other furniture as well as seating. Headboards are increasingly manufactured with attractive leather finishes, as are traditional desktops, footstools and storage trunks. Being such a tough and versatile material, leather finds its way into all sorts of designs and can be seen adorning magazine racks, mirror and picture frames, waste paper bins and place mats. Leather handles Strap style leather handles are being seen in more and more chic homes. Used in bespoke kitchen designs, home offices and bathrooms, these strap like handles offer an attractive and unique alternative to conventional handles. Fashioned from high quality, heavy-duty leather they are reminiscent of horse tack and give a room a distinctly expensive and equestrian air. Beautiful bathrooms Believe it or not, leather is regularly successfully used in upscale bathrooms. Traditional claw-foot tubs with hand-stitched leather liner on the outside exude class and old style glamor and look fantastic teamed with leather wall tiles and a leather vanity unit. Cold surfaces in a bathroom are such a no-no, and with wall-to-wall leather that is one worry less. Incorporating leather into an interior design is relatively simple because products are available at all price points and in all styles. Whether using a single accent piece or going for complete leather everywhere look, there is plenty to inspire and excite about this wonderful material. Adding Light Through Mirrors!

Adding Light Through Mirrors!

Mirrors are important in every home design. Whether it is for function or decoration, mirrors help bounce more natural light into a home, and visually create more space, making it a very important piece to have. Here are some ideas how mirrors can be incorporated into your home! This mirror located in the entryway of this home is a beautiful statement piece! This can be used for both function and decoration because it is in the perfect place for someone to look in the mirror as they are walking out the door. I especially love the angled cuts into the mirror; it really balances out the organic table below it. Mirrored furniture has also been very popular this year. These pieces are not only glamorous looking, but can bounce light around at different angles. I love the mirrored bedside tables and bench in this bedroom! It adds the finishing touch to this elegant space. This bathroom is stunning! In this space, mirror is used as both a function and decoration on the same wall! The antique mirror behind the vanity acts as a feature wall and brings out the veins in the marble flooring and counter top surrounding it. I love how decorative vanity mirrors are applied on top of it, and are completed by the mirrored vanities. These features make this bathroom very spacious and airy. Who wouldn’t want to get ready for the day in here? Another way to incorporate mirror into your home is through the ceiling! I love the large tiled mirrors Kelly Wearstler used in this home. These mirrors reflect the light coming into the large windows and make the ceiling appear taller. Even at night, the chandelier on the ceiling will reflect off of the mirror and create a cozy, well lit environment. As you can see, there are plenty of opportunities to add mirrors into your home. I hope you feel inspired to incorporate these features into every room. If you would like more inspiration, please feel free to view my work here. Completing Your Space With Gold Accents

Gold accents can enhance your space in many ways. It can affect your mood, and set a tone for a room. Whether it is bringing warmth, glamour, or elegance to a space, there are many ways to incorporate gold accents to your home to make it your own. A great way to incorporate gold accents into a Kitchen is through a range hood. This gold range hood creates a focal point in this room and adds the finishing touch to this contemporary space. I love the way it looks incorporated with the overall layout of the Kitchen. The gold finish brings out the veins in the marble surrounding it to create an overall harmony in this space. Who wouldn’t want to cook in here? The mix of gold and kelly green in this space is fabulous! These two colors really compliment each other and help to create an overall relaxing space. Incorporating gold with certain colors can determine the mood you are trying to set for the space. For example, gold with red would create more of a luxurious feel, compared to this comforting combination. Gold wall art such as this piece might be just what you need to complete a room. Without this beautiful gold accent, the office would look very generic. Now that the gold wall sculpture and gold lamps are added, it creates life. The light bounces off the sculpture and adds a metallic sparkle, and a dimensional aspect to this room. I love the use of metallic in this bathroom! The silver metallic wallpaper with the mix of gold accents creates a unique harmony. I especially love the gold accessories with the polished nickel plumbing hardware. It shows that not everything has to match, and gold can really be incorporated anywhere. I hope you feel inspired to add some gold acents into your life! It can really help to add that finishing touch you may need to complete your home. If you would like more inspiration, please feel free to view my work here. Amazing Kitchens!

I find true inspiration in creating livable, functional, and beautiful kitchens.  They are the hub of a home where families and friends gather for many reasons and occasions. Kitchens not only reflect how you function and complete your daily tasks, but should also reflect your personal style. It is an area that is utilized by each and every family member, as well as guests. Therefore, function and beauty are equally as important. I believe in the healing power of natural light. To invite nature and the outdoors into your home, is one of the most crucial design decisions to be made. I adore this kitchen design by Eve Robinson Associates, Inc. This showcases how you can create an open and clean kitchen with beautifully crafted millwork. I especially love the bright pops of color and pattern in the wallpaper; it adds a young and energetic vibe. This is perfect for any home welcoming children and will be sure to engage everyone in cooking with this open layout! Here is a kitchen with a very energetic and lively feel. The beautiful emerald green with the sleek silver trim has created the perfect contrast of elements and colors in the cabinetry. I also love how the design incorporates natural stone elements, which can be found in the marble counter top as well as the mosaic back splash.  A color like this will no doubt make that statement that you may be looking for! These rustic chairs updated with purple cushions are a perfect example of mixing unexpected elements into your kitchen’s design. Using different textures, such as the wood on the chairs and tables, the glass lighting fixtures, and the silver chrome accents creates interest in any room, and brings in an eclectic vibe to the space.  Do not forget the fresh flowers! These are the finishing touch for any kitchen. Another crucial aspect in any kitchen, is a cozy Breakfast Area. This warm and inviting Breakfast Area is so inviting with its upholstered bench and pillows. Doesn’t it make you want to relax with a cup of coffee? A Breakfast Area like this really allows for personal style to shine through. I especially love the different patterned pillows in this space! I hope you feel inspired to create the kitchen of your dreams! The kitchen is one of the most important rooms in a home, and it should really be something that you enjoy spending time in. If you would like further inspiration you may view my work here or if you have any comments or questions, please feel free to contact me. Gorgeous Mosaic Tiles!

Gorgeous Mosaic Tiles!

Gorgeous mosaic tile work walls is a great way to give your home that unique touch.  Tiles can work with almost any style and can accentuate a bathroom or kitchen beautifully. I also love the idea of using these in other rooms in the house. When used correctly, these can be glamorous and timeless. I hope you are inspired by the images I have included below to show how this trend is being used. I love this bathroom by Pfuner Design. The soft flowing pattern and colors are great to turn your bathroom into a relaxing space. I love how the slight chrome accents in the tile work are emphasized by the chrome of the tub! This is a fabulous way that mosaic tiles can be used in a bedroom done by Sici’s Mosaics.  This room is glamorous and the contemporary design of the flowers keeps it fresh and from being overwhelming. A patterned mosaic tile like this, is great for an accent wall. I love how it makes the wall look glittery! I adore these larger than life roses that make you feel like you are in an English garden. This Italian Tile Art by Bisazza, shows how bold large scale mosaics, liven up a room, and almost look like a painting. Note how the rest of the room is very minimalist, for example the borderless mirror, so it does not compete with this beautiful detail. This white Kitchen, designed by Lilly Bunn Interiors, gains a pop of excitement and interest from the bold patterned mosaic backsplash behind the cooktop. I love the contrast between the white and black color of the tiles. It makes for a great accent wall in this space, and really adds charm! I hope that you have been inspired by these mosaic tiles and how to bring the elements into your home! 2013 Design Trend – Patterns!

2013 Design Trend – Patterns!

One of the many design trends for this year is using patterns in your home. What better way to add life to a room than through patterns? Whether it is on a chair, your ceiling, or your entire room, there are so many opportunities to incorporate pattern into your space. It is what helps make your space one of a kind, something your visitors will never forget! I love the use of pattern in a ceiling. This Moroccan style space is gorgeous in itself, but the ceiling is what adds the finishing touch to it. It truly brings together all of the reds, blues and greens in the room, creating a perfect harmony in the space. The patterns in the throw pillows, rugs, and chairs also contribute to the life in this space and help to create a beautiful design. If you are looking to focus on one color in your space, then that is the perfect opportunity to embrace pattern. Look at how stunning this room is in its blue tones! Using one color like this gives you the chance to go wild with pattern without it being over the top. I especially love the little hint of green in the patterned carpet; it grounds the overall blue design. Bold patterns also look fabulous in smaller spaces. This bathroom, for example, looks amazing with this bamboo Cowtan & Tout wallpaper. Wallpaper like this makes for a clean and crisp design in small spaces. What is also beautiful about this space, is the overlapping of the patterned mirror and the wallpaper. It breaks up the green in the wallpaper to make another amazing pattern in itself! In this room, pattern is only on the floor and ceiling, instead of on the walls. This is a great way to make people view the entire space, and add dimension to a room. I love how everything else has minimal color and pattern; it makes for a great design that is different from others. I hope you are feeling inspired to use pattern in your homes! It really does bring life and color to a space, and can make that bold impression you are looking for. If you would like further inspiration you may view my work here or if you have any comments or questions, please feel free to contact me. Incorporating Photography into your Home

Incorporating Photography into your Home

Photography is a great way to bring personality into your home. It is different from your standard painting, because it can bring in real life textures from Mother Nature, or it can tell a personal story about your life. It can contribute to the overall design of a space, and can even add that finishing touch you are looking for. Here are some great examples of artwork from some amazing photographers, and how these pieces are brought into a space. This amazing photograph by Roberto Dutesco called, “The Horses of Sable Island”, is the finishing touch for this Living Room in Seattle. The horse hair texture in the photograph works with the rugged texture of the concrete wall, creating an overall harmony in the room. I especially love the sepia finish of the piece, as it contributes to the overall warmth of the space. I love this photograph by Barbara Erdmann! This photograph, taken in Italy, makes you feel as though you are walking through a garden. A photograph like this sets a serene mood for a room, and can really affect the way people feel while walking through a space. A piece like this would look fabulous in a Bathroom or Breakfast Area. If you are looking for a different way to display photography other than a wall, than look no further. This digital print was applied with a piece of silk onto the mahogany wood. The photograph by Paul Schiek, brings life to this simple console, and makes for a one-of-a-kind piece; I just love this idea! An abstract photograph like this one, done by Laura Wood, is a great way to incorporate some excitement into a space. I love the use of monochromatic colors in this room. The grey photograph really pops next to the white wall, and creates a statement piece for this room. I hope you feel inspired to utilize the amazing photographs out in this world. The beauty is that there are so many, which means so many opportunities to make your space unlike any other. If you would like further inspiration you may view my work here or if you have any comments or questions, please feel free to contact me. Bringing Life to a Room with Embellished Furniture!

Embellished pieces bring excitement and personality to a home. A simplistic living room can easily be perked up by adding an embellished piece of furniture. Here are some perfect examples of some embellished furniture that would bring life to any space! I love how glamorous natural elements can look when done in a lavish finish. This table from Chista, features a free form shape with a cast bronze finish. This is no doubt a statement piece, and would be perfect for anyone who is going for a glamorous look. These lamps from CHD Lamp Co. are absolutely gorgeous! I love how the amethyst embellishments stand out against the aged steel. These lamps show how something can be made extraordinary by just the smallest embellishment on the lamp’s chain. This lamp could be just what you need to complete a space, and would add that one last touch of color! Here is another example of how glamorous details on lighting pieces are extremely eye catching.  These contemporary lighting fixtures from Windfall are made from Swarovski Strass Jewellery Beads.  I love how they sparkle when the light hits them! The beads help to create a sparkle in the space that can reflect throughout the room. I adore this ottoman from Sici’s. I love how the mosaic feature adds an even more luxurious feel to the piece than just the standard velvet fabric. The beautiful movement created by the curve of this ottoman, finished off with the exquisite gold detail, would be a great touch for a bedroom or living area!   If you already have a piece that you want to add embellishments to, then Diamond Head Upholstery Tack is the way to go! These tacks range in all different colors and sizes and you can put them wherever you want. This is a great for someone who is not sure how much embellishment they want, and can add them in small increments. I hope that you have been inspired by these ideas on how to bring embellishment into your home!
