Beautiful Artwork for Indoors and Outdoors!

I had the opportunity to visit the Paradise City Arts Show in Northampton, MA, and I came across some fabulous artists that come from all over America to display their work! One thing in particular that caught my eye was their amazing sculptures.   I adore these animal sculptures done by Christopher Williams. Located in Essex, MA, Chris has been doing art for 20 years. Many of his works are large pieces, but he still makes time to do a cute little bug here and there, such as this bumblebee! I really love the abstract textures he incorporates, as well as that pop of color with the hand blown glass. Who would not want to look out their window everyday to this majestic giraffe?   WB Sculpture Studio located in Providence, RI,  is another great studio I have found that specializes in sculptures, mobiles, railings and furniture for indoor and outdoor. Mainly abstract pieces, Whitmore Boogaerts, creates movement in an environment that can leave an imprint on anyone. His free flowing figures can help to create a soothing and comforting space for an entryway or even a patio!   Another amazing sculptor is Roger DiTarando, located in Vernon, CT.  Instead of trying to capture the essence of an animal, he instead takes advantage of it’s texture and transforms it into a one of a kind being. I love how he fluffs up the sheep’s’ wool , and heightens the shell on the turtle to almost exaggerate their wonderful features. I would love to use these turtles on a console, or even use these sheep as part of my landscaping; They are truly amazing! I hope you feel inspired to incorporate beautiful sculptures like these in your daily life. I feel as though they can add that one last thing you may be looking for to make your home complete.  If you would like more inspiration, please feel free to view my work here. Gorgeous Mosaic Tiles!

Gorgeous mosaic tile work walls is a great way to give your home that unique touch.  Tiles can work with almost any style and can accentuate a bathroom or kitchen beautifully. I also love the idea of using these in other rooms in the house. When used correctly, these can be glamorous and timeless. I hope you are inspired by the images I have included below to show how this trend is being used. I love this bathroom by Pfuner Design. The soft flowing pattern and colors are great to turn your bathroom into a relaxing space. I love how the slight chrome accents in the tile work are emphasized by the chrome of the tub! This is a fabulous way that mosaic tiles can be used in a bedroom done by Sici’s Mosaics.  This room is glamorous and the contemporary design of the flowers keeps it fresh and from being overwhelming. A patterned mosaic tile like this, is great for an accent wall. I love how it makes the wall look glittery! I adore these larger than life roses that make you feel like you are in an English garden. This Italian Tile Art by Bisazza, shows how bold large scale mosaics, liven up a room, and almost look like a painting. Note how the rest of the room is very minimalist, for example the borderless mirror, so it does not compete with this beautiful detail. This white Kitchen, designed by Lilly Bunn Interiors, gains a pop of excitement and interest from the bold patterned mosaic backsplash behind the cooktop. I love the contrast between the white and black color of the tiles. It makes for a great accent wall in this space, and really adds charm! I hope that you have been inspired by these mosaic tiles and how to bring the elements into your home! Incorporating Photography into your Home

Photography is a great way to bring personality into your home. It is different from your standard painting, because it can bring in real life textures from Mother Nature, or it can tell a personal story about your life. It can contribute to the overall design of a space, and can even add that finishing touch you are looking for. Here are some great examples of artwork from some amazing photographers, and how these pieces are brought into a space. This amazing photograph by Roberto Dutesco called, “The Horses of Sable Island”, is the finishing touch for this Living Room in Seattle. The horse hair texture in the photograph works with the rugged texture of the concrete wall, creating an overall harmony in the room. I especially love the sepia finish of the piece, as it contributes to the overall warmth of the space. I love this photograph by Barbara Erdmann! This photograph, taken in Italy, makes you feel as though you are walking through a garden. A photograph like this sets a serene mood for a room, and can really affect the way people feel while walking through a space. A piece like this would look fabulous in a Bathroom or Breakfast Area. If you are looking for a different way to display photography other than a wall, than look no further. This digital print was applied with a piece of silk onto the mahogany wood. The photograph by Paul Schiek, brings life to this simple console, and makes for a one-of-a-kind piece; I just love this idea! An abstract photograph like this one, done by Laura Wood, is a great way to incorporate some excitement into a space. I love the use of monochromatic colors in this room. The grey photograph really pops next to the white wall, and creates a statement piece for this room. I hope you feel inspired to utilize the amazing photographs out in this world. The beauty is that there are so many, which means so many opportunities to make your space unlike any other. If you would like further inspiration you may view my work here or if you have any comments or questions, please feel free to contact me. Bringing the Outdoors Indoors!

I love the idea of incorporating outdoor elements into home design. By bringing an organic energy into wallpaper, furniture, and other home decor adds a level of individuality that can make your home unique.  These nature inspired pieces are by no means one dimensional; while they classically show up and look great in Mediterranean and beach inspired homes, they can also look incredibly luxurious and sophisticated when used correctly. Check out these pictures which demonstrate how Mother Nature’s natural beauty can be emphasized and utilized to create beautiful spaces. I adore the detail in this new wallpaper by Élitis.  They took something so simple such as a feather and transformed it into a very sophisticated wallpaper. This wallpaper truly captures the intricate beauty already supplied by Mother Nature and elevates it to make something unique. I love how the feather paper is used with the modern furniture and jewel tone pillows to keep the room elegant and innovative. This image is of a couple’s home in California featured by Elle Decor. I believe the ceiling, which is often left plain, is one of the best places to show off individual style in an unusual and creative way. This unfinished wood has an organic look which brings a casual sophistication to this dining area. This glass sculpture by Thomas Long is spectacular! These pieces are reminiscent of natural forms, and looks similar to flowers in a field. Abstract artwork like this brings in a variety of color and life to a room, as well as natural shapes and textures. A piece like this would look fabulous in a beach house. This cork wallpaper with gorgeous gold detail shows how these natural elements can look extremely luxurious. This wallpaper would look amazing in a contemporary or traditional space, and would bring in a great texture to any room. Cork is also very green, and would be great for people who are looking to be environmentally friendly. I hope that these natural elements have inspired you to bring the outdoors in!  If you would like some further inspiration on ways to think outside of the box you can view my work here. Turning Plain Walls into Beautiful Works of Art!

Leather tiling for floors or walls is a gorgeous way to add glamour to any space. They are not only stylish and creative but they will age beautifully! Leather tiles are best used to draw attention to an area. By placing them behind the T.V., the T.V. becomes the focal point of this room. Also, they are great for bring unexpected texture. I love the way these tiles are incorporated with the textures from the ceiling, chandelier, couches, and all the other elements. I love the idea of using leather tiles behind a bed to add emphasis to the space. They are great for making a statement of luxury. These rooms look gorgeous; I love the mirrors for added texture! I also love these Textured Wall Panels. Using these make it easy to create a funky space while maintaining a classic and luxurious feel. How gorgeous would these be in your living room or bedroom? I also love the idea of using  these in a closet!   This is a fabulous company which I have come across, that features textured 3D PU leather tiles. The PU Leather is faux leather that also has a layer of water proof polyurethane.  This fabulous product brings forth a new dimension and concept for interior wall decorating. It enables a designer the ability to enhance flat walls with 3D surfaces that are not only visually rich, but also pleasing and stimulating to the eye.  I love the idea of using this material to transform a children’s play room or even using it in a home theater! Another marvelous company that really struck me was Bueno Glass. This is a form of art that utilizes blown glass to be placed on walls. They offer two different styles one for more rustic interiors which is the Stone Series and another which is more sleek and contemporary, the Silver Series. Despite their differences in appearance, they both are created using the methods of blown hot glass. All of the inspiration for these pieces is taken from nature in its purest for as you can see just simply from looking at the pieces, they are incredibly beautiful and offers an amazing opportunity for you to transform any wall into an open canvas! I hope that learning about these manufactures has inspired you to think about designing walls in a new and creative way! If you would like...

Bringing the Elements Into Your Home!

A design element frequently overlooked is movement and texture. I find that people are more often than not, drawn to fabric and finishes solely on their appealing patterns and colors, but are unaware of the depth that can be added into a space by adding a simple touch of movement. This allows you to transform a flat space adding life in a casual way. I have decided to take it a step further and look into the movement of textures and materials, giving you ideas of ways in which movement and a three dimensional effect can be applied to your space. WATER Here is a beautiful stone slab from NY Stone Manhattan. I came across this in person and was taken aback by the unbelievable craftsmanship of Mother Nature. The one-of-a-kind organic veining has created the illusion of water. To me, it appears as if there is a current that is alive and moving. How marvelous would this stone be placed in any bathroom or kitchen? It would give the effect that your counter was a vessel filled with moving water. AIR Now for air. This beautiful architectural screen from Bendheim Architectural Glass is reminiscent of fabric blowing in the wind. To me, this architectural screen is light and airy. Despite all of the movement and depth that is being unleashed, there is a great sense of peace and tranquility. EARTH This fabulous painting, done by Kate Childs, is yet another picture perfect way in which you can add texture and life to any space as well as incorporating nature. This piece on the contrary, evokes a less dramatic and more peaceful calming mood while still having as strong sense of presence. At the sight of this painting, I am lost in its texture and soothing movements; the oceanic breezy feel is an oasis. FIRE I can almost feel the heat that is being released by this painting, done by Kate Childs. I adore her artistic style and how she has created such a work of art. This painting truly captures the mood she is trying to express, while also transporting you into this magical landscape at the sight of it. This painting would truly add texture and depth to any space where you are trying to add life. I hope that you have been inspired by these ideas on how to bring the elements into your home! If...
