Gorgeous Mosaic Tiles!

Gorgeous mosaic tile work walls is a great way to give your home that unique touch.  Tiles can work with almost any style and can accentuate a bathroom or kitchen beautifully. I also love the idea of using these in other rooms in the house. When used correctly, these can be glamorous and timeless. I hope you are inspired by the images I have included below to show how this trend is being used. I love this bathroom by Pfuner Design. The soft flowing pattern and colors are great to turn your bathroom into a relaxing space. I love how the slight chrome accents in the tile work are emphasized by the chrome of the tub! This is a fabulous way that mosaic tiles can be used in a bedroom done by Sici’s Mosaics.  This room is glamorous and the contemporary design of the flowers keeps it fresh and from being overwhelming. A patterned mosaic tile like this, is great for an accent wall. I love how it makes the wall look glittery! I adore these larger than life roses that make you feel like you are in an English garden. This Italian Tile Art by Bisazza, shows how bold large scale mosaics, liven up a room, and almost look like a painting. Note how the rest of the room is very minimalist, for example the borderless mirror, so it does not compete with this beautiful detail. This white Kitchen, designed by Lilly Bunn Interiors, gains a pop of excitement and interest from the bold patterned mosaic backsplash behind the cooktop. I love the contrast between the white and black color of the tiles. It makes for a great accent wall in this space, and really adds charm! I hope that you have been inspired by these mosaic tiles and how to bring the elements into your home! 2013 Design Trend – Patterns!

One of the many design trends for this year is using patterns in your home. What better way to add life to a room than through patterns? Whether it is on a chair, your ceiling, or your entire room, there are so many opportunities to incorporate pattern into your space. It is what helps make your space one of a kind, something your visitors will never forget! I love the use of pattern in a ceiling. This Moroccan style space is gorgeous in itself, but the ceiling is what adds the finishing touch to it. It truly brings together all of the reds, blues and greens in the room, creating a perfect harmony in the space. The patterns in the throw pillows, rugs, and chairs also contribute to the life in this space and help to create a beautiful design. If you are looking to focus on one color in your space, then that is the perfect opportunity to embrace pattern. Look at how stunning this room is in its blue tones! Using one color like this gives you the chance to go wild with pattern without it being over the top. I especially love the little hint of green in the patterned carpet; it grounds the overall blue design. Bold patterns also look fabulous in smaller spaces. This bathroom, for example, looks amazing with this bamboo Cowtan & Tout wallpaper. Wallpaper like this makes for a clean and crisp design in small spaces. What is also beautiful about this space, is the overlapping of the patterned mirror and the wallpaper. It breaks up the green in the wallpaper to make another amazing pattern in itself! In this room, pattern is only on the floor and ceiling, instead of on the walls. This is a great way to make people view the entire space, and add dimension to a room. I love how everything else has minimal color and pattern; it makes for a great design that is different from others. I hope you are feeling inspired to use pattern in your homes! It really does bring life and color to a space, and can make that bold impression you are looking for. If you would like further inspiration you may view my work here or if you have any comments or questions, please feel free to contact me. Turn a Bathroom Into Your Personalized Spa at Home

Bathrooms can often times be overlooked, but designers are sure to treat every space as an opportunity for beautiful design! I have pointed out some great bathrooms which have been designed by top designers, all of which evoke a certain feel. A bathroom should be looked at as an escape and a retreat similar to that of a spa; I hope you enjoy! This piece breaks the traditional idea of having a plain porcelain tub in a bathroom. I love the shape; it almost reminds me of a large black egg. I can only imagine how it would feel to be able to lie down and relax in this. I love the use of color in this bathroom designed by Steven Gambrel. The Turquoise subway tile just looks so amazing in contrast to the stark white with black gallery wall, and for an ever further surprise, the teal hallway leading in to the small space. I just love this eclectic bathroom designed by David Kleinberg. The finishes and materials that have been selected are so stunning. From the marble on the flooring and walls to the wood and mirrors, this bathroom is one of a kind! Now for a more sleek, sophisticated and modern approach this bathroom designed by Darryl Carter is just spectacular. This goes to show how simplicity is key, this space evokes such a peaceful and calming effect reminiscent of a spa. I would love to have this bathroom as mine! Here is another room with a simplistic approach for a bathroom design but with a hint of elegance and romance. The stone and materials/ finishes that have been selected are just perfection, the glistening walls in contrast with the lacquered vanity creates a clean yet elegant charm to the space. I hope you have been inspired by these images to create your own retreat bathroom for yourself, and like always, keep in mind; It’s all in the details. Related Sites: Porcelanosa S.R. How an Interior Designer Discovers Jewels in the Powder Room

Because powder rooms are small, I love to treat them as a jewelry box. You can use the most exclusive materials because the quantities needed are typically smaller than your full size bathroom. Here are some of my favorite materials to use in a Powder room to make it look and feel special: Petals of Polished Calacatta Gold, classic Italian milk white marble with soft grey and gold veining are paired with hints of white natural rivershell inserts, iridescent white freshwater mother of pearl. These tiles have a natural stone look to them and can be used on the walls or the floors due to their anti-slip properties. The Concetto collection by Caesar Stone consists of semi-precious stones that are bounded together. This would be so beautiful  when the light shines on it. Here is a different version of semi-precious stones that can be used on the walls, floor or as counter tops. This stone is alabaster and is cut into strips created by Italian bathroom manufacturer Mastro Fiore. These glass counter tops are pure glass that is 99% recycled. In addition to great design, these counter tops consist of earth’s natural products. Tile is an everyday bathroom material; take it to the next level by arranging it in a bold, large-scale mosaic. These English roses make the bathroom feel like a garden oasis. Powder rooms always represent a particularly inviting challenge. When working with a small space, it is important to pay more attention to everything you put in, especially when you are someone like me whose interior design philosophy is “it’s all in the details.” Does this give you any ideas for the jewels that could be discovered in your powder room?
