Gorgeous Mosaic Tiles!

Gorgeous mosaic tile work walls is a great way to give your home that unique touch.  Tiles can work with almost any style and can accentuate a bathroom or kitchen beautifully. I also love the idea of using these in other rooms in the house. When used correctly, these can be glamorous and timeless. I hope you are inspired by the images I have included below to show how this trend is being used. I love this bathroom by Pfuner Design. The soft flowing pattern and colors are great to turn your bathroom into a relaxing space. I love how the slight chrome accents in the tile work are emphasized by the chrome of the tub! This is a fabulous way that mosaic tiles can be used in a bedroom done by Sici’s Mosaics.  This room is glamorous and the contemporary design of the flowers keeps it fresh and from being overwhelming. A patterned mosaic tile like this, is great for an accent wall. I love how it makes the wall look glittery! I adore these larger than life roses that make you feel like you are in an English garden. This Italian Tile Art by Bisazza, shows how bold large scale mosaics, liven up a room, and almost look like a painting. Note how the rest of the room is very minimalist, for example the borderless mirror, so it does not compete with this beautiful detail. This white Kitchen, designed by Lilly Bunn Interiors, gains a pop of excitement and interest from the bold patterned mosaic backsplash behind the cooktop. I love the contrast between the white and black color of the tiles. It makes for a great accent wall in this space, and really adds charm! I hope that you have been inspired by these mosaic tiles and how to bring the elements into your home! 2013 Design Trend – Patterns!

One of the many design trends for this year is using patterns in your home. What better way to add life to a room than through patterns? Whether it is on a chair, your ceiling, or your entire room, there are so many opportunities to incorporate pattern into your space. It is what helps make your space one of a kind, something your visitors will never forget! I love the use of pattern in a ceiling. This Moroccan style space is gorgeous in itself, but the ceiling is what adds the finishing touch to it. It truly brings together all of the reds, blues and greens in the room, creating a perfect harmony in the space. The patterns in the throw pillows, rugs, and chairs also contribute to the life in this space and help to create a beautiful design. If you are looking to focus on one color in your space, then that is the perfect opportunity to embrace pattern. Look at how stunning this room is in its blue tones! Using one color like this gives you the chance to go wild with pattern without it being over the top. I especially love the little hint of green in the patterned carpet; it grounds the overall blue design. Bold patterns also look fabulous in smaller spaces. This bathroom, for example, looks amazing with this bamboo Cowtan & Tout wallpaper. Wallpaper like this makes for a clean and crisp design in small spaces. What is also beautiful about this space, is the overlapping of the patterned mirror and the wallpaper. It breaks up the green in the wallpaper to make another amazing pattern in itself! In this room, pattern is only on the floor and ceiling, instead of on the walls. This is a great way to make people view the entire space, and add dimension to a room. I love how everything else has minimal color and pattern; it makes for a great design that is different from others. I hope you are feeling inspired to use pattern in your homes! It really does bring life and color to a space, and can make that bold impression you are looking for. If you would like further inspiration you may view my work here or if you have any comments or questions, please feel free to contact me. Bringing Life to a Room with Embellished Furniture!

Embellished pieces bring excitement and personality to a home. A simplistic living room can easily be perked up by adding an embellished piece of furniture. Here are some perfect examples of some embellished furniture that would bring life to any space! I love how glamorous natural elements can look when done in a lavish finish. This table from Chista, features a free form shape with a cast bronze finish. This is no doubt a statement piece, and would be perfect for anyone who is going for a glamorous look. These lamps from CHD Lamp Co. are absolutely gorgeous! I love how the amethyst embellishments stand out against the aged steel. These lamps show how something can be made extraordinary by just the smallest embellishment on the lamp’s chain. This lamp could be just what you need to complete a space, and would add that one last touch of color! Here is another example of how glamorous details on lighting pieces are extremely eye catching.  These contemporary lighting fixtures from Windfall are made from Swarovski Strass Jewellery Beads.  I love how they sparkle when the light hits them! The beads help to create a sparkle in the space that can reflect throughout the room. I adore this ottoman from Sici’s. I love how the mosaic feature adds an even more luxurious feel to the piece than just the standard velvet fabric. The beautiful movement created by the curve of this ottoman, finished off with the exquisite gold detail, would be a great touch for a bedroom or living area!   If you already have a piece that you want to add embellishments to, then Diamond Head Upholstery Tack is the way to go! These tacks range in all different colors and sizes and you can put them wherever you want. This is a great for someone who is not sure how much embellishment they want, and can add them in small increments. Turning Plain Walls into Beautiful Works of Art!

Leather tiling for floors or walls is a gorgeous way to add glamour to any space. They are not only stylish and creative but they will age beautifully! Leather tiles are best used to draw attention to an area. By placing them behind the T.V., the T.V. becomes the focal point of this room. Also, they are great for bring unexpected texture. I love the way these tiles are incorporated with the textures from the ceiling, chandelier, couches, and all the other elements. I love the idea of using leather tiles behind a bed to add emphasis to the space. They are great for making a statement of luxury. These rooms look gorgeous; I love the mirrors for added texture! I also love these Textured Wall Panels. Using these make it easy to create a funky space while maintaining a classic and luxurious feel. How gorgeous would these be in your living room or bedroom? I also love the idea of using  these in a closet!   This is a fabulous company which I have come across, that features textured 3D PU leather tiles. The PU Leather is faux leather that also has a layer of water proof polyurethane.  This fabulous product brings forth a new dimension and concept for interior wall decorating. It enables a designer the ability to enhance flat walls with 3D surfaces that are not only visually rich, but also pleasing and stimulating to the eye.  I love the idea of using this material to transform a children’s play room or even using it in a home theater! Another marvelous company that really struck me was Bueno Glass. This is a form of art that utilizes blown glass to be placed on walls. They offer two different styles one for more rustic interiors which is the Stone Series and another which is more sleek and contemporary, the Silver Series. Despite their differences in appearance, they both are created using the methods of blown hot glass. All of the inspiration for these pieces is taken from nature in its purest for as you can see just simply from looking at the pieces, they are incredibly beautiful and offers an amazing opportunity for you to transform any wall into an open canvas! I hope that learning about these manufactures has inspired you to think about designing walls in a new and creative way! If you would like...

Utilizing Brush Strokes!

A huge and exciting trend that I have been seeing lately is brushstrokes. Whether it is in fabric, wallpaper, or accessories, simply adding paint strokes is the perfect solution to bringing life and texture into your space. I have selected a few spaces, as well as accessories where designers have used this technique to create exquisite interiors. I adore this entryway by Kelly Wearstler. The combination of the timeless and elegant staircase with the funky paint strokes is dynamite. The orange color of the strokes is also a great way to make a bold statement. Here is another eclectic mix of traditional pieces and bold pink paint strokes. This is Amanda Nisbet’s bedroom for the Kip’s Bay Decorator Show House. I love how she has chosen to use fine and delicate antique furnishings, and then off sets it with the vibrant and surprising wallpaper! This type of wallpaper is a great way to bring the look of texture into a space. I adore these lamps from Bunny Williams. This shows how brush strokes can also look fabulous in accessories and furniture. Again, showing how you can mix such opposite styles to create your own amazing look; contrasting the antique delicate gold base with the wild, yet tamed paint strokes is so creative! The fabric on this chair has created an updated look for this traditional side chair. I also love the contrast of the bright colors. This is the perfect way to create a statement piece that would be sure to turn heads! I hope that you have been inspired by these creatively designed spaces and accessories for the next time you are trying to update and originate the look of your space.
