Gorgeous Mosaic Tiles!

Gorgeous mosaic tile work walls is a great way to give your home that unique touch.  Tiles can work with almost any style and can accentuate a bathroom or kitchen beautifully. I also love the idea of using these in other rooms in the house. When used correctly, these can be glamorous and timeless. I hope you are inspired by the images I have included below to show how this trend is being used. I love this bathroom by Pfuner Design. The soft flowing pattern and colors are great to turn your bathroom into a relaxing space. I love how the slight chrome accents in the tile work are emphasized by the chrome of the tub! This is a fabulous way that mosaic tiles can be used in a bedroom done by Sici’s Mosaics.  This room is glamorous and the contemporary design of the flowers keeps it fresh and from being overwhelming. A patterned mosaic tile like this, is great for an accent wall. I love how it makes the wall look glittery! I adore these larger than life roses that make you feel like you are in an English garden. This Italian Tile Art by Bisazza, shows how bold large scale mosaics, liven up a room, and almost look like a painting. Note how the rest of the room is very minimalist, for example the borderless mirror, so it does not compete with this beautiful detail. This white Kitchen, designed by Lilly Bunn Interiors, gains a pop of excitement and interest from the bold patterned mosaic backsplash behind the cooktop. I love the contrast between the white and black color of the tiles. It makes for a great accent wall in this space, and really adds charm! I hope that you have been inspired by these mosaic tiles and how to bring the elements into your home! Beautiful Chinoiserie Wallpaper!

This week I have been inspired by Chinoiserie. I have selected a few gorgeous spaces that have taken the most beautiful landscapes and crafted scenes, and used them as the inspiration and backdrops for these incredible spaces. I hope you enjoy! This guest room is spectacular! The Chippendale design of the bed and simplistic accent pieces are marvelous, placed in front of the backdrop of the antique and distressed Chinoiserie wallpaper from de Gournay. To finish off the space, is the sea grass carpet, which adds to the oriental feel while also keeping all of the attention on the walls and statement pieces. This small powder room featured in Architectural Digest makes quite the statement with its ornate wallpaper paired with the antique mirror, sconces, and sleek vanity. The simplicity of the furnishings and accents are key to keeping the focus on the beautifully crafted scenery on the walls. In this space, we have pop art with Chinoserie wallpaper. I love this mix of modern art with traditional pieces!  The Andy Warhol print not only makes the Chinoserie wallpaper look more elegant and whimsical, but it also adds personality to the space with its bold colors. The Chinoiserie style in this elegantly luxurious bedroom has created such a serene and feminine environment, perfect for this little dressing area. To me, this would be any girls dream! Finally, is this dining room featured in Veranda. I adore the selection of antique pieces.  This look has created the perfect mix of textures and elements. The bright pops of color on the upholstery and floral arrangements, bring life and energy into this antique traditional space. The grayed out Chinoiserie wallpaper adds an element of history and a magical feeling to the space, especially paired with the great gold mirror. This space is absolutely stunning! I hope that these wonderfully designed spaces have inspired you to introduce Chinoiserie into your home. Exquisite Dining rooms!

In this week’s blog I have decided to show to you some exquisitely beautiful and one of a kind dining rooms that will be sure to catch your attention! In every one of these spaces, the designers have displayed their true sense of creativity and design as they have produced these marvelous one of a kind looks through the mixing of styles, elements, textures and colors. I hope you enjoy! I love the combination of the bold colors chosen on the upholstery, fabric and wallpaper in contrast with the finely detailed elements. The mantel of the fireplace is beautifully crafted, and the antique chairs are to die for! The Chinoiserie scenes by 18th-century French artist Jean-Baptiste Pillement, inspired the decorative painter. Bob Christian’s murals that have been painted on the walls. This artist also painted the Georgian-style chairs as well as the marbleized mantel. French Decor with an exotic mix of a tropical color pallet, can perfectly describe this elegantly refreshing and antique space. This dining room featured in House Beautiful, is just to die for. I love the simplicity of the stark white in contrast with the robin’s egg blue. In addition, I adore how the lighting fixture above the table is reminiscent of a birds nest resting above, offering an incredibly tranquil and relaxing feel. Here is another amazing and refreshingly inspiring dining room designed by Krista Ewart. I love the eclectic mix of purposefully and carefully selected elements that are all combined to create the perfect harmony of an updated and wonderfully balanced traditional space. The bright pops of color and funky upholstery offer the perfect amount of zing. Who knew that baby blue and light pink could be used in such a sophisticated manner? Featured in Cottages and Gardens,  this dining room offers yet another exquisite mix of traditional and antique pieces, updated with bright and strikingly poppy colors and textures. The Chinoiserie pagoda chandelier that is centered above the rich wood dining table, creates the perfect juxtaposition. I especially adore the selection of dining chairs; the antique Swedish chairs upholstered in the snake-skin leather is to die for, especially alongside the strictly modern acrylic chairs. This dining room brings a magical and whimsical approach to a sophisticated and traditional dining setting. Finally, is this space done by Nate Berkus. The mix of the abstract art with the classic and old-world antique furnishings, has created...

I hope you are inspired by these marvelous products, Enjoy! This faucet from THG PARIS is spectacular, with just the perfect amount of glitz, this hardware would create that ideal little sparkly where needed. On the contrary to offset its more feminine sheen and texture is its strong and bold lines adding a more masculine feel, this piece is the perfect juxtaposition. Need I say more? The form, body and movement of this sink bowl gives the appearance of a jumbo water droplet frozen in motion! This is just to die for, a dynamite sculptural sink with a cut out, offering elegance, beauty and utility is all combine in one piece! Another sink from Philip Watts Design is this one titled Wave, again this piece does its name grand justice. Also strong in movement and sculpture, it is reminiscent of an ocean wave. It is perfectly described as “Wave Amorphic beauty married with minimalism”. Now for a more extravagant and bold look is this amazing sink from MGM Marbles and Stone. This piece is an organic yet shockingly luxurious work of mother nature, it looks as if it has been carved directly out of the quarry, by the hands of an angle. International Contemporary Furniture Fair at the JAVITS Convention Center – TEXTURES!

As a continuation from last week’s blog where I revealed to you some of my favorite artisans from the International Contemporary Furniture Fair at the JAVITS Convention Center,  this week I am going to do the same, however changing the focusing to amazing textures! Textures are a wonderful way to bring life and depth into a space, not only do they offer a visually stimulating harmonious element, they also bring a physical element as they allow you  to truly engage with the space! This rug from Nanimarquina is called Dolce, and just as its name suggests, it is decadently smooth and plush.  Just this image captures how effortlessly smooth it would feel to run your fingers through it. I would love to have this placed beneath my feet as I would imagine myself walking through a bed of velvet flowers. High chairs can often times be uncomfortable and harsh when seated in, however this one from moooi looks extravagantly welcoming. Its plush upholstery offers a moment of warmth thus creating a more enjoyable experience while seated up high. This Eos light from Vita is absolutely breathtaking. It captures an incredibly elegant and romantic movement as it appears to be a gift from heaven above caught in a moment of pure bliss. It is made from authentic bird feathers, each which are carefully fastened to a paper core by hand. It radiates the perfect amount of light to create a pleasantly cozy glow while also capturing a sense of mystery. I hope now when selecting fabrics, materials and finishes, you will view them in a much more dimensional way. If you are looking for further inspiration on how to incorporate amazing textures into your space, feel free to view my work here. Wolf Range Details Spark Catherine Cleare Interiors’ Tabletop Design

For the upcoming American Red Cross Red & White Ball 2013, we have partnered up with Clarke’s, the Ultimate Kitchen Resource Center. The write-up below was from them and wanted to share it with you! Hope to see you at the event! On Saturday, May 11th, Clarke is participating in the American Red Cross Metro New York North Chapter’s Red & White Ball at NetJets Hangar at Westchester County Airport in White Plains, NY. Supported by scores of designers and homeowners in Fairfield County, CT, this annual event is the chapter’s most successful fundraiser.   Every year, the organization does something to bring new life and excitement to the event and this year it’s more creative than ever. Dozens of area designers have worked to create extraordinary table top designs. We’re not talking just lovely linens and unique tableware, these creations are inspired by everything from a trip to France to the Spring following Hurricane Sandy to a uniquely Americana look. Designer Catherine Cleare of Catherine Cleare Interiors, LLC, has partnered with Clarke, New England’s Official Sub-Zero & Wolf Showroom and Test Kitchen, to create a dramatic table design for the 2013 Red & White Ball. The design revolves around the excitement of “Cooking is believing!,” a Clarke signature statement, exemplifying the “appliance test drives” that homeowners can experience at Clarke. Catherine Cleare’s Designer Sketch of the Clarke Table Concept by John Waski Design, LLC The table’s centerpiece is a dramatic red “Lipstick” ventilation hood by Best, one of Clarke’s exclusive lines. When mounted on the ceiling above a range or cooktop, this Best hood (part of the Sorpresa line, meaning “surprise” in Italian) appears to be more art object than ventilation system. The same is true of its red center column presence on Cleare’s table design at the Red & White Ball. Cleare is adorning the red column with various kitchen tools from Clarke’s kitchen boutique Savoir Fare (and savoirfare.com), while each place setting is set atop a Wolf gas range grate, with dramatic red Staub cocettes serving as “chargers” for the evening’s meal. Staub’s cast-iron cookware is a key component of Savoir Fare’s cookware/bakeware offering. With all this iron, shine and appliance appeal, the look is softened with table linens from Le Jaquard Francais, also available at Savoir Fare. This timeless and sophisticated French linen compay prides itself in designing eclectic creations with opulent and dazzling colors.   The whole design should be spectacular...
