From Ordinary Elements to Extraordinary Design

I find that sometimes the things that are the most exciting, are the things that are the most unexpected. It is fascinating to me when people take ordinary items and transform them into something so brilliant and unexpected. I have decided to share with you some designers and artists whom have done this in such magnificent and creative ways! Rachel O’Neill is a master of using regular materials and turning them into creative and artistic pieces. From afar, her pieces look like sculpted organic chandeliers, but when you are up close it is astonishing to see that she has in fact made them out of dyed Velcro, which is then dappled with vibrantly dyed feathers. The gold chandelier has used the same process, but then has been dyed with metallic paint; I just adore these works of art! Architectural Minerals has mastered using Mother Nature to create such marvelous works of organic and one of kind pieces of art work. I love the way in which they take something as simple as stone, and form them into wonderful pieces that can be used as central focal points to accent any table setting or room. Here we have Quartz with Hematite; it is taken from a small iron mine in a rural area of Sothern China. They are worked on only by a few select farmers. I would love to be the owner of one of these precious pieces. Here is a fabulous idea! Designed by Ultra Suede is this leather that has been transformed into an artistic canvas for your children! Not only is this fabric completely child proof for drawing on with crayons but it is stain resistant as well, and animal friendly. This is such a creative and resourceful idea; I would love to use this in any children’s play space or high traffic area. I have been so inspired by these manufactures and designers in which they are able to think in such creative and out of the box ways. Who wants to follow trends when you can create your own!? I hope that you also have been moved by these ideas and think about how you can transform your space in brilliant and one of a kind ways. Remember like always, it’s all in the details. If you have any other comments or fun ideas I would love to hear from you. please feel free...
