Gorgeous Mosaic Tiles!

Gorgeous mosaic tile work walls is a great way to give your home that unique touch.  Tiles can work with almost any style and can accentuate a bathroom or kitchen beautifully. I also love the idea of using these in other rooms in the house. When used correctly, these can be glamorous and timeless. I hope you are inspired by the images I have included below to show how this trend is being used. I love this bathroom by Pfuner Design. The soft flowing pattern and colors are great to turn your bathroom into a relaxing space. I love how the slight chrome accents in the tile work are emphasized by the chrome of the tub! This is a fabulous way that mosaic tiles can be used in a bedroom done by Sici’s Mosaics.  This room is glamorous and the contemporary design of the flowers keeps it fresh and from being overwhelming. A patterned mosaic tile like this, is great for an accent wall. I love how it makes the wall look glittery! I adore these larger than life roses that make you feel like you are in an English garden. This Italian Tile Art by Bisazza, shows how bold large scale mosaics, liven up a room, and almost look like a painting. Note how the rest of the room is very minimalist, for example the borderless mirror, so it does not compete with this beautiful detail. This white Kitchen, designed by Lilly Bunn Interiors, gains a pop of excitement and interest from the bold patterned mosaic backsplash behind the cooktop. I love the contrast between the white and black color of the tiles. It makes for a great accent wall in this space, and really adds charm! I hope that you have been inspired by these mosaic tiles and how to bring the elements into your home! 2013 Design Trend – Patterns!

One of the many design trends for this year is using patterns in your home. What better way to add life to a room than through patterns? Whether it is on a chair, your ceiling, or your entire room, there are so many opportunities to incorporate pattern into your space. It is what helps make your space one of a kind, something your visitors will never forget! I love the use of pattern in a ceiling. This Moroccan style space is gorgeous in itself, but the ceiling is what adds the finishing touch to it. It truly brings together all of the reds, blues and greens in the room, creating a perfect harmony in the space. The patterns in the throw pillows, rugs, and chairs also contribute to the life in this space and help to create a beautiful design. If you are looking to focus on one color in your space, then that is the perfect opportunity to embrace pattern. Look at how stunning this room is in its blue tones! Using one color like this gives you the chance to go wild with pattern without it being over the top. I especially love the little hint of green in the patterned carpet; it grounds the overall blue design. Bold patterns also look fabulous in smaller spaces. This bathroom, for example, looks amazing with this bamboo Cowtan & Tout wallpaper. Wallpaper like this makes for a clean and crisp design in small spaces. What is also beautiful about this space, is the overlapping of the patterned mirror and the wallpaper. It breaks up the green in the wallpaper to make another amazing pattern in itself! In this room, pattern is only on the floor and ceiling, instead of on the walls. This is a great way to make people view the entire space, and add dimension to a room. I love how everything else has minimal color and pattern; it makes for a great design that is different from others. I hope you are feeling inspired to use pattern in your homes! It really does bring life and color to a space, and can make that bold impression you are looking for. If you would like further inspiration you may view my work here or if you have any comments or questions, please feel free to contact me. Incorporating Photography into your Home

Photography is a great way to bring personality into your home. It is different from your standard painting, because it can bring in real life textures from Mother Nature, or it can tell a personal story about your life. It can contribute to the overall design of a space, and can even add that finishing touch you are looking for. Here are some great examples of artwork from some amazing photographers, and how these pieces are brought into a space. This amazing photograph by Roberto Dutesco called, “The Horses of Sable Island”, is the finishing touch for this Living Room in Seattle. The horse hair texture in the photograph works with the rugged texture of the concrete wall, creating an overall harmony in the room. I especially love the sepia finish of the piece, as it contributes to the overall warmth of the space. I love this photograph by Barbara Erdmann! This photograph, taken in Italy, makes you feel as though you are walking through a garden. A photograph like this sets a serene mood for a room, and can really affect the way people feel while walking through a space. A piece like this would look fabulous in a Bathroom or Breakfast Area. If you are looking for a different way to display photography other than a wall, than look no further. This digital print was applied with a piece of silk onto the mahogany wood. The photograph by Paul Schiek, brings life to this simple console, and makes for a one-of-a-kind piece; I just love this idea! An abstract photograph like this one, done by Laura Wood, is a great way to incorporate some excitement into a space. I love the use of monochromatic colors in this room. The grey photograph really pops next to the white wall, and creates a statement piece for this room. I hope you feel inspired to utilize the amazing photographs out in this world. The beauty is that there are so many, which means so many opportunities to make your space unlike any other. If you would like further inspiration you may view my work here or if you have any comments or questions, please feel free to contact me. Bringing Life to a Room with Embellished Furniture!

Embellished pieces bring excitement and personality to a home. A simplistic living room can easily be perked up by adding an embellished piece of furniture. Here are some perfect examples of some embellished furniture that would bring life to any space! I love how glamorous natural elements can look when done in a lavish finish. This table from Chista, features a free form shape with a cast bronze finish. This is no doubt a statement piece, and would be perfect for anyone who is going for a glamorous look. These lamps from CHD Lamp Co. are absolutely gorgeous! I love how the amethyst embellishments stand out against the aged steel. These lamps show how something can be made extraordinary by just the smallest embellishment on the lamp’s chain. This lamp could be just what you need to complete a space, and would add that one last touch of color! Here is another example of how glamorous details on lighting pieces are extremely eye catching.  These contemporary lighting fixtures from Windfall are made from Swarovski Strass Jewellery Beads.  I love how they sparkle when the light hits them! The beads help to create a sparkle in the space that can reflect throughout the room. I adore this ottoman from Sici’s. I love how the mosaic feature adds an even more luxurious feel to the piece than just the standard velvet fabric. The beautiful movement created by the curve of this ottoman, finished off with the exquisite gold detail, would be a great touch for a bedroom or living area!   If you already have a piece that you want to add embellishments to, then Diamond Head Upholstery Tack is the way to go! These tacks range in all different colors and sizes and you can put them wherever you want. This is a great for someone who is not sure how much embellishment they want, and can add them in small increments. I hope that you have been inspired by these ideas on how to bring embellishment into your home! Beautiful Chinoiserie Wallpaper!

This week I have been inspired by Chinoiserie. I have selected a few gorgeous spaces that have taken the most beautiful landscapes and crafted scenes, and used them as the inspiration and backdrops for these incredible spaces. I hope you enjoy! This guest room is spectacular! The Chippendale design of the bed and simplistic accent pieces are marvelous, placed in front of the backdrop of the antique and distressed Chinoiserie wallpaper from de Gournay. To finish off the space, is the sea grass carpet, which adds to the oriental feel while also keeping all of the attention on the walls and statement pieces. This small powder room featured in Architectural Digest makes quite the statement with its ornate wallpaper paired with the antique mirror, sconces, and sleek vanity. The simplicity of the furnishings and accents are key to keeping the focus on the beautifully crafted scenery on the walls. In this space, we have pop art with Chinoserie wallpaper. I love this mix of modern art with traditional pieces!  The Andy Warhol print not only makes the Chinoserie wallpaper look more elegant and whimsical, but it also adds personality to the space with its bold colors. The Chinoiserie style in this elegantly luxurious bedroom has created such a serene and feminine environment, perfect for this little dressing area. To me, this would be any girls dream! Finally, is this dining room featured in Veranda. I adore the selection of antique pieces.  This look has created the perfect mix of textures and elements. The bright pops of color on the upholstery and floral arrangements, bring life and energy into this antique traditional space. The grayed out Chinoiserie wallpaper adds an element of history and a magical feeling to the space, especially paired with the great gold mirror. This space is absolutely stunning! I hope that these wonderfully designed spaces have inspired you to introduce Chinoiserie into your home. Still continuing with the International Contemporary Furniture Fair at the JAVITS Convention Center…in this week’s post I will now reveal to you some amazing bathroom elements. I hope you are inspired by these marvelous products, Enjoy! This faucet from THG PARIS is spectacular, with just the perfect amount of glitz, this hardware would create that ideal little sparkly where needed. On the contrary to offset its more feminine sheen and texture is its strong and bold lines adding a more masculine feel, this piece is the perfect juxtaposition. Need I say more? The form, body and movement of this sink bowl gives the appearance of a jumbo water droplet frozen in motion! This is just to die for, a dynamite sculptural sink with a cut out, offering elegance, beauty and utility is all combine in one piece! Another sink from Philip Watts Design is this one titled Wave, again this piece does its name grand justice. Also strong in movement and sculpture, it is reminiscent of an ocean wave. It is perfectly described as “Wave Amorphic beauty married with minimalism”. Now for a more extravagant and bold look is this amazing sink from MGM Marbles and Stone. This piece is an organic yet shockingly luxurious work of mother nature, it looks as if it has been carved directly out of the quarry, by the hands of an angle. Its material and finish radiate a subtle yet extravagantly beautiful glow! I hope these amazing bathroom elements have inspired you to view your bathroom spaces in a more dynamic and luxurious way.
