Gorgeous Mosaic Tiles!

Gorgeous mosaic tile work walls is a great way to give your home that unique touch.  Tiles can work with almost any style and can accentuate a bathroom or kitchen beautifully. I also love the idea of using these in other rooms in the house. When used correctly, these can be glamorous and timeless. I hope you are inspired by the images I have included below to show how this trend is being used. I love this bathroom by Pfuner Design. The soft flowing pattern and colors are great to turn your bathroom into a relaxing space. I love how the slight chrome accents in the tile work are emphasized by the chrome of the tub! This is a fabulous way that mosaic tiles can be used in a bedroom done by Sici’s Mosaics.  This room is glamorous and the contemporary design of the flowers keeps it fresh and from being overwhelming. A patterned mosaic tile like this, is great for an accent wall. I love how it makes the wall look glittery! I adore these larger than life roses that make you feel like you are in an English garden. This Italian Tile Art by Bisazza, shows how bold large scale mosaics, liven up a room, and almost look like a painting. Note how the rest of the room is very minimalist, for example the borderless mirror, so it does not compete with this beautiful detail. This white Kitchen, designed by Lilly Bunn Interiors, gains a pop of excitement and interest from the bold patterned mosaic backsplash behind the cooktop. I love the contrast between the white and black color of the tiles. It makes for a great accent wall in this space, and really adds charm! I hope that you have been inspired by these mosaic tiles and how to bring the elements into your home! 2013 Design Trend – Patterns!

One of the many design trends for this year is using patterns in your home. What better way to add life to a room than through patterns? Whether it is on a chair, your ceiling, or your entire room, there are so many opportunities to incorporate pattern into your space. It is what helps make your space one of a kind, something your visitors will never forget! I love the use of pattern in a ceiling. This Moroccan style space is gorgeous in itself, but the ceiling is what adds the finishing touch to it. It truly brings together all of the reds, blues and greens in the room, creating a perfect harmony in the space. The patterns in the throw pillows, rugs, and chairs also contribute to the life in this space and help to create a beautiful design. If you are looking to focus on one color in your space, then that is the perfect opportunity to embrace pattern. Look at how stunning this room is in its blue tones! Using one color like this gives you the chance to go wild with pattern without it being over the top. I especially love the little hint of green in the patterned carpet; it grounds the overall blue design. Bold patterns also look fabulous in smaller spaces. This bathroom, for example, looks amazing with this bamboo Cowtan & Tout wallpaper. Wallpaper like this makes for a clean and crisp design in small spaces. What is also beautiful about this space, is the overlapping of the patterned mirror and the wallpaper. It breaks up the green in the wallpaper to make another amazing pattern in itself! In this room, pattern is only on the floor and ceiling, instead of on the walls. This is a great way to make people view the entire space, and add dimension to a room. I love how everything else has minimal color and pattern; it makes for a great design that is different from others. I hope you are feeling inspired to use pattern in your homes! It really does bring life and color to a space, and can make that bold impression you are looking for. If you would like further inspiration you may view my work here or if you have any comments or questions, please feel free to contact me. Bringing the Outdoors Indoors!

I love the idea of incorporating outdoor elements into home design. By bringing an organic energy into wallpaper, furniture, and other home decor adds a level of individuality that can make your home unique.  These nature inspired pieces are by no means one dimensional; while they classically show up and look great in Mediterranean and beach inspired homes, they can also look incredibly luxurious and sophisticated when used correctly. Check out these pictures which demonstrate how Mother Nature’s natural beauty can be emphasized and utilized to create beautiful spaces. I adore the detail in this new wallpaper by Élitis.  They took something so simple such as a feather and transformed it into a very sophisticated wallpaper. This wallpaper truly captures the intricate beauty already supplied by Mother Nature and elevates it to make something unique. I love how the feather paper is used with the modern furniture and jewel tone pillows to keep the room elegant and innovative. This image is of a couple’s home in California featured by Elle Decor. I believe the ceiling, which is often left plain, is one of the best places to show off individual style in an unusual and creative way. This unfinished wood has an organic look which brings a casual sophistication to this dining area. This glass sculpture by Thomas Long is spectacular! These pieces are reminiscent of natural forms, and looks similar to flowers in a field. Abstract artwork like this brings in a variety of color and life to a room, as well as natural shapes and textures. A piece like this would look fabulous in a beach house. This cork wallpaper with gorgeous gold detail shows how these natural elements can look extremely luxurious. This wallpaper would look amazing in a contemporary or traditional space, and would bring in a great texture to any room. Cork is also very green, and would be great for people who are looking to be environmentally friendly. I hope that these natural elements have inspired you to bring the outdoors in!  If you would like some further inspiration on ways to think outside of the box you can view my work here. Turning Plain Walls into Beautiful Works of Art!

Leather tiling for floors or walls is a gorgeous way to add glamour to any space. They are not only stylish and creative but they will age beautifully! Leather tiles are best used to draw attention to an area. By placing them behind the T.V., the T.V. becomes the focal point of this room. Also, they are great for bring unexpected texture. I love the way these tiles are incorporated with the textures from the ceiling, chandelier, couches, and all the other elements. I love the idea of using leather tiles behind a bed to add emphasis to the space. They are great for making a statement of luxury. These rooms look gorgeous; I love the mirrors for added texture! I also love these Textured Wall Panels. Using these make it easy to create a funky space while maintaining a classic and luxurious feel. How gorgeous would these be in your living room or bedroom? I also love the idea of using  these in a closet!   This is a fabulous company which I have come across, that features textured 3D PU leather tiles. The PU Leather is faux leather that also has a layer of water proof polyurethane.  This fabulous product brings forth a new dimension and concept for interior wall decorating. It enables a designer the ability to enhance flat walls with 3D surfaces that are not only visually rich, but also pleasing and stimulating to the eye.  I love the idea of using this material to transform a children’s play room or even using it in a home theater! Another marvelous company that really struck me was Bueno Glass. This is a form of art that utilizes blown glass to be placed on walls. They offer two different styles one for more rustic interiors which is the Stone Series and another which is more sleek and contemporary, the Silver Series. Despite their differences in appearance, they both are created using the methods of blown hot glass. All of the inspiration for these pieces is taken from nature in its purest for as you can see just simply from looking at the pieces, they are incredibly beautiful and offers an amazing opportunity for you to transform any wall into an open canvas! I hope that learning about these manufactures has inspired you to think about designing walls in a new and creative way! If you would like...

Completing Your Space With a Bold Ceiling!

Ceilings are often a missed design opportunity. Straying away from the traditional white ceiling can have a major impact on the overall look and mood of your room. Whether it is a punch of paint, a patterned wall paper, or paneling, it is the perfect opportunity to spice up your space. If you want to bring a distinct look to an often neglected part of your interior decor, then look no further for inspiration, than what I have displayed below. Need I say more? I adore this gorgeous green powder room designed by Shelley Johnstone Paschke. The shades of emerald green are so luxurious in this Italian Renaissance estate. This is an amazing example of how you can use a funky and surprising pattern like this one, inspired from agate stone on the ceiling, while still having a classic look. I also love the choice of accessories. The combination of the blue and white Chinese vases as well as a Lucite console, is an exquisite mix of elements. This entrance room is Hollywood glamour at its best! I am obsessed with the bold yellow walls paired with the gold accents, and sleek details on the doors and table top. I love how the ceiling has used the yellow in an intricate and funky design, which brings even more excitement to the space. This room is amazing! I love how the gold detail in this ceiling emphasizes the other gold elements in this room. The ceiling adds unexpected glamour and brings the room together. By using the pattern only in the center of the ceiling highlighted by the white trim, is a great way to bring focus to the center of the room. Adding texture to a ceiling is another great way to bring that unique element to the usually ignored space, especially if you are looking for a more muted look. This coffered ceiling features over 1,000 squares with over 1,000 carved roses inside of each. This is another great example of how ceiling detail can be classic, while also being extremely luxurious. I hope that these amazing ceilings bring inspiration and life to your designs. Beautiful Chinoiserie Wallpaper!

This week I have been inspired by Chinoiserie. I have selected a few gorgeous spaces that have taken the most beautiful landscapes and crafted scenes, and used them as the inspiration and backdrops for these incredible spaces. I hope you enjoy! This guest room is spectacular! The Chippendale design of the bed and simplistic accent pieces are marvelous, placed in front of the backdrop of the antique and distressed Chinoiserie wallpaper from de Gournay. To finish off the space, is the sea grass carpet, which adds to the oriental feel while also keeping all of the attention on the walls and statement pieces. This small powder room featured in Architectural Digest makes quite the statement with its ornate wallpaper paired with the antique mirror, sconces, and sleek vanity. The simplicity of the furnishings and accents are key to keeping the focus on the beautifully crafted scenery on the walls. In this space, we have pop art with Chinoserie wallpaper. I love this mix of modern art with traditional pieces!  The Andy Warhol print not only makes the Chinoserie wallpaper look more elegant and whimsical, but it also adds personality to the space with its bold colors. The Chinoiserie style in this elegantly luxurious bedroom has created such a serene and feminine environment, perfect for this little dressing area. To me, this would be any girls dream! Finally, is this dining room featured in Veranda. I adore the selection of antique pieces.  This look has created the perfect mix of textures and elements. The bright pops of color on the upholstery and floral arrangements, bring life and energy into this antique traditional space. The grayed out Chinoiserie wallpaper adds an element of history and a magical feeling to the space, especially paired with the great gold mirror. This space is absolutely stunning! I hope that these wonderfully designed spaces have inspired you to introduce Chinoiserie into your home.
