Help is Here: Greenwich Red Cross’ Red and White Ball

We were delighted for the American Red Cross and also when Quintessence blogged about the events and yours truly, so we are giving them a shout out and reprinting what they were nice enough to show and tell.

From art and architecture, fashion and fun finds, books, to food and wine, travel and more, Quintessence has become a trusted source for well researched original content in the online world. Quintessence has featured our table at this year’s Greenwich Red Cross Ball.

On April 30th, 2012, the Greenwich Red Cross held its annual Red & White Ball, one of the largest fund raising events in town. With over 400 guests, they raised more than $650,000 to help the Greenwich chapter provide immediate humanitarian aid to those affected by emergencies and disasters.

One of the most distinctive designs was Catherine Cleare’s Ride for a Cause themed table. “I know there are many Harley Davidson riders in the Greenwich area, and it just seemed logical to design the table in a Harley theme, to inspire an American Red Cross biker fundraiser ride.

The American Motorcycle Association Ride for a Cause event had been a couple of weeks earlier and as AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman had explained, “Motorcyclists are well known for their generosity, kind spirits and warm hearts, and this week we are honoring the hundreds of thousands of riders who do their part to make life better for others…”

The working Harley was supported by a base made by local Sterling Cabinetry. Gracing the chairs were Harley t-shirts for the men and leather laced vests for the women.

On a faux leather tablecloth, fabricated by Triple S in Norwalk, CT, Catherine glued iridescent decal flames (like used on cars), to create place settings for the dishes and around the hem as well. And to complete the authenticity of the scene, she even found Harley beer online!
