This Interior Designer Parks Her Harley in a Hangar

On April 28, 2012, the Greenwich Chapter of the American Red Cross, held their annual Red & White Ball in the NetJets Hangar at the Westchester County Airport.

Each year, I design a table top. The theme of our table top was “Ride for the Cause.” I know there are many Harley Davidson riders in the Greenwich area, and it just seemed logical to design the table in a Harley theme, to inspire an American Red Cross biker fundraiser ride.

In designing this table theme, I glued on the iridescent decal flames, which are used on hot rod cars, to create place settings for the dishes, and a flame design around the hem of the table cloth. I used faux black leather for the table cloth to keep in theme with the “macho” Harley image. Triple S in Norwalk, CT made the faux leather table cloth.

We even found Harley beer on the internet. Check out the cowboy boot candle. The vintage black and white splatter ware is from my own collection.

Yes, the Harley actually does work. This was a big hit with some of the children in the NetJets Hangar during our setup, mid-day. The clever base for the Harley was constructed by Sterling Cabinetry in Bridgeport, CT. The chairs have Harley t-shirts for the men, and leather laced vests for the women.

I love to design table tops as much as I love to design the interiors of homes. They are both connected, you know, because “it’s all in the details.”
